Is There an Opium Group Album in the Works?
Destroy Lonely first signed onto Playboi Carti’s record label Opium in 2021 and has been on the move ever since. Along with performing and raging out with Carti and his other label mates, he’s dropped a steady stream of solo music.
His most recent album, LOVE LASTS FOREVER, was in the Top Ten of the Billboard 200 and went number one on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts. However, he recently teased that a new project might be in the works that’ll please fans of all Opium artists.
When will Opium deliver their group project?
In an interview with Complex that dropped October 15, Destroy Lonely discussed all things Opium, Carti, and what to expect on his upcoming tour starting in November.
After sharing his disappointment for not being in the publication’s The 20 Best Rappers In Their 20s list, he gave the head of his label their flowers.
“...Honestly, I feel like Carti, as everybody can see, has influenced almost the entire next generation of music, and he’s always doing his own thing. He's always staying in his own lane, and having his own style and the ways that he does things. I feel like that is the main reason why he's revered as much as he is, and that’s why I respect him and I love him as my good brother,” he said.
Hopefully, that brotherhood and bond can be displayed in a project with other signees, including Homixide Gang and Ken Carson.
“Always on the way and always in the works. It's very hard to put a date or a time or even tell y'all where or when that would ever happen. We’re always working on music together. It's just a matter of when all of our careers mesh up and when the stars align for it to happen. But we’re always making music together. Us as a collective or label, whether it be from me and Homixide Gang, Homixide and Ken [Carson], me and Ken, me and Carti, or all of us together, we’ve recorded so much music and so many songs,” he said.
It’s unsure if the project will follow the Carti curse of having more wait time than the DMV.
Nevertheless, Destroy Lonely is getting ready to perform on FOREVER TOUR and give fans something while they wait.
“I love everything on tour, personally, just because touring means so much to me outside of festivals and one-off shows. Because that’s when you see the people that are literally only there for you, and love you so much … Honestly, no disrespect to the album that was created, but I never got a chance to tour my last album [If Looks Could Kill] and I see a lot of people just waiting to hear some of those songs live. So I'm trying to put together a set list and kind of merge both of them together to make everyone happy,” he said.
One thing is for sure despite the Opium rumors—they are continuing to make noise in their unique ways while keeping the punk rap aesthetic alive.

Tyler, the Creator Introduces the World to CHROMAKOPIA
It has been over a year since Tyler, the Creator released the deluxe version of his last project and fans have been eagerly waiting for more. Call Me If You Get Lost left some pretty big shoes to fill, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 charts in June 2021 and securing the Grammy for Best Rap Album. However, his fans have been wondering—what’s next? He finally has a response.
Welcome to “Chromakopia”
On October 16, Tyler released a video teasing new music called “ST. CHROMA.” Wearing a face mask while walking through the desert, the video ends with CHROMAKOPIA on top of a green backdrop. Fans began creating their theories about what this meant online and pulling together different references.
“...He is saying that he still wants to make it out. That coupled with the lines at the end of the snippet…where it says, “Can you feel the light inside? Can you feel the fire?” That is telling me that it’s going to be some type of inner freedom journey that he’s going on,” X user Bobby Foster said in an October 16 post.
Daniel Caesar also added to the hype by confirming that his vocals were featured in the song and ScHoolboy Q made sure to support his friend online.
However, fans truly went feral when Tyler finally confirmed that CHROMAKOPIA is the name of his seventh studio album and that he is fighting back against a music industry stereotype. Rather than dropping on a Friday, the album will be released on Monday, October 28th.
While there still aren’t a lot of details out about the project, all of the songs were “written, produced and arranged by Tyler Okonma” and the album is up for pre-sale and merch bundles for pre-order on the album’s official site.
Despite his previous sentiments, he might deliver his best project yet in less than two weeks.
With Camp Flog Gnaw just around the corner as well, fans are crossing their fingers that they get to be one of the first people to hear the album live along with Tyler’s other classics.
