Song Streams & Revenue
As reported by Hits Double Daily, for the week of Jan 13th-19th.
Metro Boomin's Heroes & Villains keeps topping the charts with 2 songs in the Top 10 for streams and revenue. Seems no one is tired of hearing Drake's "do your thing, 21, do your thing" as "Rich Flex" remains the most popular and profitable single from Her Loss, and unsurprisingly, Lil Uzi Vert's Jersey Club domination carries on.

Blueface & Chrisean: Marriage or Marketing?
It’s hard to remember Blueface before his Chrisean era, with the tumultuous couple taking over feeds for everything from fighting on Kai Cenat’s stream to a pregnancy announcement that’s deserving of a Maury show episode. Over the weekend, they not-so-subtly tied the knot, teasing wedding cakes and dresses on their socials, for what turned out to be a music video shoot. Although, if you give Chrisean another few months their fake nuptials could become as real as her 7 Blueface tattoos. Whether you love them, hate them, or love to hate them, there’s no denying their out-of-pocket antics have kept Blueface relevant—in a way his music has not. It begs the age-old question, is any press good press? Below, take a trip down memory lane and ask yourself if you know more about Blueface from 2022 than the previous four years combined.
2018: Blue releases the video for "Respect My Crypping" and becomes a viral meme because of his offbeat style of rapping. He signs to Cash Money West.
2019: "Thotiana" debuts on Billboard's Hot 100 at #75 and peaks at #8 a few months later. YG and Cardi B hop on "Thotiana" remixes. Dirt Bag EP releases feat. The Game, Rich the Kid, Offset, Mozzy, and Lil Pump.
2020: Blue releases his debut studio album, Find the Beat. Chrisean Rock debuts as a contestant on his's OnlyFans reality show, Blue Girls Club, and wins. He signs Chrisean to his Blueface LLC record label.
2021: Blue starts his amateur boxing career by defeating TikTok star Kane Trujillo.
2022: Chrisean loses her record deal and police remove her from Blue's property. She retaliates by breaking into his house, stealing his G-Wagon, and leaving a parting gift of "I heart Blue" in blood on his wall. She briefly goes to jail.
Chrisean gets into a physical altercation with Blue's mother and sister. Blue returns the favor and reportedly punches Chrisean's dad. Cue the Family Feud intro.
2023: Chrisean announces she's pregnant. Blue insists the relationship is done and demands a paternity test. Clearly, he missed Drake's hot sauce memo.
They reconcile, film a fake marriage music video for the song affectionately titled "Dear Rock". See the top comments for the video below via Blue's IG post.
Would Blueface be relevant without the Chrisean drama? |
“I’m Not Human” with Lil Uzi is XXXTentacion’s 34th posthumous collab. The latest X single was dropped by his estate, on January 23rd, in celebration of what would have been his 25th birthday. Since X’s tragic death in 2018, he’s appeared on 9 singles for other artists, released 2 collaborative singles, and 3 posthumous albums with a combined total of 23 collaborative songs. Aside from the Members Only collective that X was a part of, who do you think has the most posthumous collabs with X? It’s Weezy F Baby and the “F” is for four. Not far behind is Kanye with a total of 3.
Drake & Naomi Sharon are smoking on her ex pack. If there was one person unpleased by Drake’s recent announcement, naming Sharon as the first female artist signed to OVO sound, it was her ex-fiancé Jamie Sun. Back in 2021, Sun took to Instagram, subtweeting Drake in caption form, to declare “a world star” flew himself and Sharon out so she could sign a record deal but things got more personal than professional and it led to the end of their 8-year relationship. He doubled down and posted a photo of himself on a private plane, holding a glass of whiskey, with the caption “I don’t drink champagne papi.” Ha, petty but weak wordplay against a rapper who spent his entire last album throwing shots at anyone and everyone. His loss and OVO sound’s gain. Listen to her new singles, "Another Life" and "Celestial" co-produced by 40, and see for yourself.
The devil works hard, but Andrew Tate works harder. His Twitter fingers have been tirelessly providing updates to the free world and apparently, it's paying off because he's "making more money than ever before" as reported by him. At what cost though? He’s battled cockroaches, lice, bed bugs, and a vitamin D deficiency from a Romanian prison cell with no light. Although, some would argue that his balding hairline acts as a natural lice defense. He’s taken up literature and poetry, producing original works like this Game of Thrones-inspired mantra, “Surely the winds are too strong. Surely the cold BITES. I’m here to tell you. KEEP CLIMBING”, all while promoting his daily newsletter! His Twitter feed is like an autobiographical account of his time in jail, unedited and provided in real-time. But he’s yet to answer the burning question of how he has unrestricted access to Twitter. Is there a daily limit? Scheduled times? We need answers, Tate.
Super Bowl LVII & 2023 Grammy Awards
Lil Uzi leads the Eagles to the Super Bowl. The rapper and Philly native walked the Philadelphia Eagles out on the field yesterday to his inescapable track "Just Wanna Rock". It may not be the only Eagles x Uzi collab this year, as the Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers and are headed to the Super Bowl LVII scheduled for February 12th versus the Kansas City Chiefs in Glendale, Arizona. This year's halftime show will also mark the first public performance by Rihanna since the 2018 Grammy Awards, and follows last year's celebratory performance of West Coast rap.
Kendrick Lamar leads Grammy nominations. It's almost time for the 2023 Grammys, taking place this weekend, February 5th, at 7 pm EST. After a few years of snubs and questionable nominations, many artists are boycotting the Grammys, and Kendrick Lamar's attendance and possible performance remain unconfirmed despite him being the most nominated male artist of the night with 8 nominations in total. Gunna, Future, and Young Thug's "Pushing P" is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, if the song wins either category it'll continue Thug's tradition of being handcuffed prior to winning a Grammy. In 2019, he almost didn't make the ceremony, where he performed and won his first Grammy for his work on Childish Gambino's "This Is America", because he was detained by police on the way there.
Justin Bieber has sold his catalog for $200 million+ to Hipgnosis Songs Capital which includes all 290 titles released before Dec. 31, 2022, and his artist royalties from his masters and neighboring rights.
Atlanta producer, Zaytoven, also sold his music catalog including hits like Migos' "Versace" and 21 Savage's "Famous" to Ultra International Music Publishing for an undisclosed sum.
Lil Yachty's Let's Start Here deemed the most surprising hip-hop career transition by The Roots' Questlove. The alternative album is projected to sell 19K-24K it's first week.
