Songs Streams & Revenue

As reported by Hits Daily Double for the week of July 26 to August 1.

It’s a new week and a new song revenue chart. As reported by Hits Daily Double, which tracks streaming revenue week over week, the above chart reflects the streaming period from July 26 to August 1.

“Not Like Us” had a slight drop in streams but still maintained six-figure revenue. “Houdini” also had a drop in revenue, dipping under 10M streams, while “Did it First” and “Mamushi” are working their way up the charts.

Drake Drops “100 GIGS FOR YOUR HEADTOP”

With those young and old singing out “OV-HOE” all summer (and into the fall), it’s pretty clear Kendrick got the last word. Nevertheless, fans of the accent cosplayer have been waiting for him to make his official move back outside.

He’s been featured on songs like “Healing” with Gordo (and “Wah Gwan Delilah,” which we’re still trying to forget), but he hasn’t released his own music—until now.

Drake drops 100 gigs online

On August 6, Champagne Papi dropped tons of exclusive footage and new songs on the IG account @plotttttwistttttt and the official website 100 Gigs For Your Headtop. The new songs are “It’s Up” with 21 Savage, “Housekeeping Knows” with Latto and Young Thug, and “Blue Green Red.”

21 Savage’s verse on the record quickly caused some controversy, with people thinking his “hit his ass up, he think he Pac now “ lyric was a shot at Kendrick. However, DJ Akademiks confirmed with his manager that 21 was not throwing shade at K. Dot.

When it comes to footage, Drake shared tons of behind-the-scenes moments, from playing ping pong with Steph Curry to home recording the reference track for Ye’s “Yikes.”

Does this count as a response to his peers?

In true Drake fashion, he found a way throughout the overload of info to throw shade at those around him—including those that fans thought were allies like J. Cole.

He also dropped  a video among the footage of him and Rihanna rehearsing their song “Take Care,” a possible response to A$AP Rocky’s recent track “HIGHJACK.”

“These n***** want my wife bad, the people want my next track,” A$AP Rocky said in the song. For Drake to say nothing but drop footage of him and Rihanna together is pretty on brand for the usual sneak disser.

Many people online, though, are not feeling Drake’s newest move post “Not Like Us.”

“This is the natural next step for an artist who releases music at the rate Drake does. But the timing of it just screams that he’s trying to change the narrative. He’s throwing everything he has at fans in the hopes that something will stick, and something will inevitably stick,” X user Kiana Fitzgerald said in an August 6 post.

“Kendrick said ‘You run to Atlanta when you need a check balance,’ and Drake drops three songs with Atlanta artists on [them]... read the room, man,” X user one stone said in an August 7 post.

Drake fans will always welcome unreleased footage and new songs with welcome arms, but in terms of the general public, he’ll have to do a lot more to make everyone forget about the rap beef.

The Standout Moments from Ye’s Interview with Candace Owens

Candace Owens interviewing Ye

It should be no surprise that when Ye makes the news nowadays, there’s some controversy attached to it. From his comments about “slavery being a choice” in 2018 to his 2022 rants about the Jewish community, he alienated many people throughout the years. However, there will always be those who stand by him—including conservative political commentator Candace Owens.

On August 7, Owens released an interview with Ye from October 2022, in which the two discuss everything, including Ye’s life goals, how the media views them both, and even his rap peers like JAY-Z.

Owens and Ye sit down and chat

The interview was originally going to be on Daily Wire, but the network refused to hold the conversation anymore. Owens and Ye instead met in a podcast room to still talk weeks after the duo caused a media frenzy for wearing “White Lives Matter” shirts at his 2022 Paris Fashion show.

Ye provided numerous shocking moments throughout the interview, like, for example, calling Planned Parenthood the Black people’s “Holocaust museum.” He said that his infamous “DEFCON” tweet was put out in the world while he was off Hennessey.

“You wanna know what alcohol I had inside me? Hennessy. It turns us gray. The demons [come out],” he said during the interview.

He said that he was considering changing his name to “Christian Billionaire Ye” because people and publications had forgotten to include those details when discussing him.

Ye speaks on Drake & Jay-Z

In the midst of all of the chaos, he was able to share some of his opinions on the current rap world and past collaborators.

“Drake is the best rapper ever by the numbers, JAY-Z is the greatest rapper ever by the inspiration,” Ye said, before unexpectedly adding that “Yonce needs to let [JAY-Z] get some pu**y. Go to the DR or something.”

The interview went off the rails multiple times, to say the least. However, it closed out on a sincere note from Ye.

“I don’t know what God’s plan is for me. A Northsman, they fight to the death … But I am willing to give my life for what God calls me to do,” he said at the end of the interview.

Despite the interview being from a few years ago, many fans of both Ye and Owens still felt it resonated today. Nevertheless, let’s focus on getting a better-quality VULTURES 2 now, Ye.
