Kendrick Takes Aim at Drake and the Entire Rap Community

Kendrick in front of a crowd

Ever since K. Dot made the announcement this week that he will be the halftime performer at next year’s Super Bowl, people have had plenty to say. Some are in full support of potentially hearing “OV-HOE” live. However, others like Birdman and Nicki Minaj felt that K. Dot received an honor at the expense of NOLA native Lil Wayne.

One thing we know, though, is that Kendrick hasn’t shied away from a battle. In his signature surprise and petty fashion, he told the world exactly how he felt.

It’s Black Air Force time

Allegedly titled “Watch The Party Die,” the five-minute song was dropped at the start of this year’s MTV VMAs. The timing was intentional, calling out the influencers and others in the rap community who “talked down ‘cause I'm not with the basic shit, But they don't hate me, they hate the man that I represent, The type of man that never dickride 'cause I want a favor…”

However, Kendrick strapped up the beat-up Nikes in the thumbnail and turned his attention back to Drake.

For example, he stated that the battle has gotten “too wicked to apologize.” He then chooses absolute violence, telling Drake that there’s “no more pillow-talkin', jump-startin' neighborhood wars, Dirty-mackin' bitches because your spirit is insecure, The flashy n***a with nasty decisions usin' money as a backbone, I want his head cracked before he's back home.”

He also called out Drake’s personal Dobby DJ Akademiks, calling him a “radio personality pushin' propaganda for salary.” DJ Akademiks called out Kendrick later on social media, but it seemed like no one was having his back.

“Akademiks you didn't know Kendrick was dropping tonight...I think you have never been on point when Kendrick was dropping new music....This wasn't a diss song at just Drake but shots at the whole INDUSTRY of Sellouts,” X user IAintGonCap said in a September 11 post.

Throughout the diss, he spits that the future of hip-hop isn’t flexing girls or the materialism that drips from every Drake song despite the “support” he still may have. Instead, K. Dot, in the song, is using “tough love” to try to push the rap game forward— because he’s over it.

He calls out for God in the chorus to not only keep the lames away but for others not to confuse him with his peers. He cements once again what he said previously in “Like That” — “Motherfuck the big three, it's just big me.”

Everyone thought that Kendrick had slowly started to release the grip on Drake’s tiny braids. However, we were sadly mistaken. He’s addressing not just Drake but anyone who exhibits similar cringe-worthy qualities in the rap game and is calling them to the front for the ultimate judgment.

Future Finally Drops MIXTAPE PLUTO Release Date and Cover

Future rapping into a mic

MIXTAPE PLUTO has been teased for months, but fans have been waiting for Future to get back into his mixtape-era sound for years. Future first tweeted in May, “Fuck yo album Shit ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE.” Subliminals on social media continued for months until he finally dropped the album trailer and a preview of the song “Lil Demon” at the beginning of September.

Now, fans can finally get excited for real because the mixtape is dropping sooner than you think.

MIXTAPE PLUTO is on the way — with new collaborations?

The mixtape will be released on September 20th. The cover art features a pink illuminated house. The home is allegedly where Future's music collective, The Dungeon Family, created its early tracks. However, Future also dropped a preview of the upcoming song “Too Fast” with visuals from Kid Art.

Other collaborations that fans can look forward to include Travis Scott, who tweeted visuals from a potential new track called “SOUTH OF FRANCE.”

Frequent Future producer Southside confirmed in a July interview with XXL that he had been working on Mixtape Pluto, so you can expect to hear his beats on the project. While it isn’t confirmed, fans also hope to see Metro Boomin’s name on the project, who just wrapped the WE TRUST YOU TOUR with Future on September 9th.

Fans have plenty of theories about the mixtape, from a potential Lil Baby collaboration being scrapped to the project being one of the reasons Carti’s album has been delayed.

Nevertheless, the excitement for what’s to come is at the top of hip-hop heads' minds, especially those who missed Future’s classic sound.
