Lil Baby Opens Up About Young Thug, Kai Cenat, and Playboi Carti

Lil Baby, Kai Cenat, and Playboi Carti

Fresh off another No. 1 album with WHAM, Lil Baby sat down with Complex to discuss what’s next. Despite navigating a “rough patch,” the rapper continues to evolve, releasing music that reflects his journey. With Dominique on the horizon—an album he describes as having a more “grown” sound—fans are also eager for updates on his relationships with key figures in the industry.

Rumors are already swirling about a potential collaborative tape from Young Thug, Future, and Lil Baby. Meanwhile, he teased involvement in Playboi Carti’s I AM MUSIC and didn’t shy away from addressing Kai Cenat’s unfiltered review of his latest project.

Lil Baby lets it all out

On a positive note, Baby is thrilled to see Young Thug finally back home.

“It feels amazing. That was a big part of what I was going through these past two years, too. Even though it happened to Thug, I feel like it could have happened to me. So seeing that shit every day and seeing how they’re trying to do you and how they’re trying to use the craft to build [a case against us] and take us [from] trying to help n*** from our neighborhood or people that we grew up with ... That shit is really mind-boggling,” the rapper said.

Since Thug’s return, the two have wasted no time getting back to work. “We’ve been in the studio together almost every day. We got tons of songs,” Baby revealed. Hopefully, some of those unreleased tracks make it onto the rumored collaborative tape with Future.

Speaking of new music, you can’t think of ATL without thinking of Carti—and a collaboration with Baby would go crazy. While Baby admitted they’d be “too turnt together” for a joint track on Dominique, he left the door open for a potential feature on I AM MUSIC.

“[Playboi] Carti is my man. I’ve known Carti for a long time. I always knew him, but we just never really did music [together] because most of the people who I’ve known for awhile, it don't be weird making music [together], but I don't be pressed if they don’t be pressed. It is one of those things where it could happen whenever we want it to happen….I feel like I'm already on I Am Music, just being from Atlanta. Everybody plays a part in it. Just everybody’s albums, you know what I'm saying? We all feed off each other in certain ways,” he said.

Even though the buzz is building for Baby’s future projects, people online still focus on whether WHAM delivered. One of the album’s most public reviewers was Kai Cenat, who wasn’t feeling the album, to say the least.

Regardless of what Cenat and other streamers had to say about WHAM, Baby isn’t stressed over their opinions.

“…People like Kai Cenat, I feel like they’re younger. They won’t really understand how I'm coming. You have to be a little older to really get it,” he said.

Commenting on whether there’s a specific age demographic for the project, the rapper added on by stating, “...I never used to think that there was any age demographic [that was] good to rate music unless you're a music person. If it was a music person, then I'd probably be more interested. But the streamers and people who do reviews, that’s just their personal opinion. They know nothing about music for real.” Yikes.

Do y’all agree with Kai Cenat’s opinion of WHAM?

Numerous Eminem Tracks Got Leaked Online

Eminem on the mic

With his first album, Infinite, released in 1996, Eminem has been a force in the rap game for decades. The rapper has released twelve studio albums, won 15 Grammys, and has a continuously running list of chart achievements.

With all this time under his belt in the hip-hop world, it’s unsurprising that he has numerous unreleased tracks. However, someone recently decided to take matters into their own hands and release nearly 30 of these songs into the world — and Eminem and his team are not happy about it.

Will the real leaker please stand up?

The leaked songs include demos of recent tracks like “Discombobulated” and “Little Train,” along with collaborations with artists like Anderson .Paak, 50 Cent, and Dr. Dre. A standout track in the leak, though, is a diss record aimed at Ja Rule and Suge Knight from decades ago titled “Smack You.”

“I’m holding Suge responsible for the deaths of the two greatest rappers to ever grace the face of this planet … If only the late, great Mr. Christopher Wallace could talk, He could tell you himself, I’m holding Suge responsible for the death of Ja Rule or anyone else down with Tha Row…” Eminem spits on the song.

The songs were swiftly removed from YouTube and other social media platforms. On January 14, Eminem’s longtime spokesperson, Dennis Dennehy, issued a statement to XXL about the situation.

"These leaked songs were studio efforts never meant for public consumption... demos, experiments, and ideas that are dated and not relevant so many years later … The latest in a line of unfinished material released against artists’ will and without their permission,” the statement said.

However, frequent Eminem collaborator and Aftermath producer FredWreck decided to take a much more threatening approach in a since-deleted post on X.

Eminem hasn’t personally responded yet to the leaks, but fans online are still riding by his side and showing support for the leaks’ shutdown online.
