Playboi Carti’s ‘MUSIC’ Is Here & These Are All the Surprises

Playboi Carti in front of his logo

At long last, Playboi Carti’s MUSIC album is finally here. After countless delays, lies, and pump fake rollouts, Carti delivered the highly anticipated album with plenty of surprises in store. Die-hard Opium fans might be taken back by the heavy ATL trap vibes of the album (on more than a few songs, Carti can easily be mistaken for Future), but let’s not forget that’s his hometown, and he’s never been shy about repping it or the superstar rappers it has produced.

Carti dropping before GTA 6 was not on our 2025 bingo card, but it happened, and this is everything you need to know about the album.

The final MUSIC delay

This week, Carti posted “FRIDAY,” on X, announcing March 14 as the alleged release date of his album. But of course, it’s not a Carti rollout without delays

Right as the clock approached 12 a.m. EST on Thursday night, the typical time an album is released, DJ Akademiks announced that the album would actually drop at 12 a.m. PT—aka 3 a.m. EST. But 3 a.m. EST came and went with no album. Fans who stayed up late started crashing out, flooding X with “I AM LIAR” and “Fell for it again award” posts.

About four and a half hours later, hope was restored, and the album officially appeared on streaming platforms.

In a shocking turn of events, the rumors about Kendrick Lamar being the secret feature turned out to be true. K. Dot linked up with Carti, his “evil twin,” for not one, not two, but THREE songs. Other features include Future, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, Skepta, Ty Dolla $ign, and The Weeknd.

Naturally, Carti doesn’t do anything without making his fans work for it. The features are hidden from the official Spotify tracklist. Below, find the features and their corresponding tracks.

  • “CRUSH” ft. Travis Scott

  • “MOJO JOJO” ft. Kendrick Lamar

  • “PHILLY” ft. Travis Scott

  • “RATHER LIE” ft. The Weeknd

  • “BACKD00R” ft. Kendrick Lamar

  • “TOXIC” ft. Skepta

  • “CHARGE DEM HOES A FEE” ft. Future & Travis Scott

  • “GOOD CREDIT” ft. Kendrick Lamar

  • “WAKE UP F1LTHY” ft. Travis Scott

  • “JUMPIN” ft. Lil Uzi Vert

  • “TRIM” ft. Future

  • “WE NEED ALL DA VIBES” ft. Ty Dolla $ign & Young Thug

  • “TWIN TRIM” ft. Lil Uzi Vert

Although Ye wasn’t featured on the album, that didn’t stop him from weighing in with a hot take.

Remember that this is the same guy who said, “Yo, Dot, I got you” when he did a remix of Kendrick’s “Like That” diss song and said “Kendrick is an inspiration,” along with many other glazing tweets back in 2015. TDE Punch has already fired back, posting on X, “Aye
What’s up with this Kanye West n****?”

Kendrick’s feature on “GOOD CREDIT” is likely what Akademiks was referring to last night when he said, “Buckle up y’all, that n**** talking that shit again.” Carti starts off the song talking about his status as an artist, flexing the typical accolades that come with his success—money, style, and women.

Then Kendrick talks his shit, saying his artistry and position in the game is what makes him the greatest—not the money and numbers.

Aside from Kendrick, all of the featured artists understood the assignment and delivered tenfold. Future really went off on “TRIM.” The FREEBANDZ demon continues to put out classic verses at 41 years old and 15 years into his career.

Carti, Travis Scott, and Future are the big three on “CHARGE DEM HOES” giving fans of “TYPE SHIT” another link-up to be grateful for. For those who remember Carti’s Rolling Loud Miami performance, songs previewed there like “RATHER LIE” ft. The Weeknd and “COCAINE NOSE” made the cut for the official album.

At 30 songs and a run time of 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 57 seconds, it’s a great day for the unemployed. For everyone else, hopefully you were able to submit a last-minute part-time-off request.

Why Does Drake Want to Guest Star on This Podcast?

Drake next to podcast mics

Drizzy has had plenty of viral moments as of late, from Anita Max Wynn to renting out a club to gamble alone. Although he rarely does interviews, he occasionally makes exceptions for certain people. While his 2023 interview with Bobbi Althoff was more controversial than good vibes (their episode was eventually deleted from YouTube by Althoff with little explanation), Drizzy wants to try another podcast.

Drake really wants an invite

On March 12, the rapper posted two clips from the podcast TANKSGODPOD on his burner Instagram account (@plotttttwistttttt).

The show is "hosted by Eastern European fashion model Luda Podgorna and an Italian woman named Elena De Napoli (who appear to be in their early 20s).” The podcast has little online presence, with just over 300 Instagram followers and no other known socials.

The first clip is of both women playing a game of “would you rather?” but the real game is trying to understand their dialogue because of the heavy accents. In the caption, he pleads with them to "PL$$$ INVITE ME ON THE ONLY POD THAT MATTERS."

The second clip is a continuation of the same episode with questions like, “would you rather always smell like garlic or always smell like sweat?” Understandable why Champagne Papi wants on the podcast—they’re asking the tough questions.

With the show not even available on streaming platforms like Spotify, fans were confused. One Instagram user commented, “I’m lost bro bro,” while another said, “Dawg wtf is you on?”

However, some people fully supported Drizzy's return to the mic. "Bro, I just want to be on a fun podcast. He doesn't want interviews. I get ya, DRAKE," commented another fan.

Whether this is some cryptic hint to Drake’s “next chapter” or truly just a request to guest star on a random podcast, we’re all waiting to see what he does next.

Will Drake really end up on this podcast?
