Was Young Thug Playing “Kiss Me Thru The Phone?” Leaked Jail Call Causes Controversy
Young Thug was held in Cobb County Jail in Atlanta for more than 900 days during Georgia’s longest criminal trial. There was plenty of chaos during the trial, from Thugga’s attorney, Brian Steel, being held in contempt to drug transactions during court sessions.
However, the one constant factor was Thugga’s girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist. Sure, we all made memes about her infamous “Daddy, am I your baby?” leaked call. Regardless, seeing her stick beside her partner inspired hope. However, Thugga might have had some extra action on the side during his stay.
Mariah the Scientist gets a crappy Xmas gift
Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the YouTube channel Law & Crimes Trials has released footage of multiple phone calls Thugga had in jail. In one clip, Mariah breaks down the Diddy legal drama for him.
Other newly released clips, though, will make you cringe for the R&B singer. Thugga is seen talking with one friend about how Mariah “[loves me] too much. Sometimes too much … [It scares me how much] because it’s like, man, if I do something if I smack something or something like that, you’d probably be devastated. But for the most part, I ain’t even been calling no other girls. I ain’t call no other girls in like a week. And I usually call at least 10 other girls when I get on the phone just to kill time…”
It gets worse. The footage then came out with Thugga talking to model Leena Sayed (AKA the current girlfriend of boxer Devin Haney) in 2022 (Thugga and Mariah the Scientist have been dating since 2021). They both seem to be crying(?) on the phone as Sayed can be heard saying, "no one's like you. I don't like them... I want you."
Both parties have since responded to the video coming out, denying unfaithful allegations, but it looks like Mariah is understandably pissed. On Christmas, Young Thug posted on X, “She so mad, I said merry Christmas and she said thank u 💀”
The drama is also far from over. Young Thug’s sister, Dolly White, posted on X that she knows who is leaking the videos, but she is keeping it low for now. The internet is supporting Mariah, but it’s unclear where the couple stands as she appears to have been with Thug on Christmas Day in Big Bear, California.

Spotify and Drake’s Beef is Getting Ugly
Former First Lady Michelle Obama said in 2016 that when haters “go low, we go high.” However, Drake decided that as Kendrick got diabolical, he would go tattle-tale. He took legal action against Spotify and UMG for allegedly boosting streams of K. Dot’s diss record “Not Like Us.” UMG has already released a statement about Drake's “offensive and untrue” allegations, but now it is Spotify’s turn to let the choppa sing.
Spotify has had enough
The streaming platform officially filed opposition papers in Manhattan court on December 20. In their filing, they said they found no evidence supporting Champagne Papi’s claim.
“Contrary to the allegations in the Petition, UMG and Spotify have never had any arrangement in which UMG ‘charged Spotify licensing rates 30 percent lower than its usual licensing rates for ‘Not Like Us’ in exchange for Spotify affirmatively recommending [“Not Like Us”],’ including ‘to users who are searching for other songs and artists,” the papers state.
Digging the knife in even deeper, they claim that Drake’s findings rely “exclusively on speculation...or the claims of anonymous individuals on the internet."
Spotify’s VP of Music, David Kaefer, also delivered an affidavit along with Spotify’s filing, stating that “when we identify attempted stream manipulation, we take action that may include removing streaming numbers, withholding royalties and charging penalty fees… Confirmed and suspected artificial streams are also removed from our chart calculations. This helps us to protect royalty payouts for honest, hardworking artists.”
Drake doubles down
Drake’s attorneys have responded to the streaming platform’s newest moves in a statement to Variety.
“It is not surprising that Spotify is trying to distance themselves from UMG’s allegedly manipulative practices to artificially inflate streaming numbers on behalf of one of its other artists. If Spotify and UMG have nothing to hide then they should be perfectly fine complying with this basic discovery request,” the spokesperson said.
This legal battle is just getting started. However, the damage is already done for Drake. Spotify has shown major love to the rapper in the past —but it’s truly doubtful they will ever “Get It Together.”
