Billboard Hot 100

Billboard Hot 100 chart

As reported by Billboard for the week of January 11.

The above chart shows Billboard’s Hot 100 ranking for this week. The Hot 100 ranks songs based on streaming activity, radio airplay audience impressions, and sales data—all measured by Luminate.

It’s a comeback week now that Christmas songs have left the Billboard charts. Hits from K. Dot’s surprise album GNX including “luther” and “squabble up” are making their way back up along with The Weeknd/Carti collaboration “Timeless” and Tyler’s “Sticky” (shoutout to the TikTok dancers).

Ye Squashes Beef With Kai Cenat

Kanye and Kai Cenat

Throughout his career, Ye has had his fair share of feuds. He was pissed off at Peppa Pig (yes, the cartoon character) for their 2021 album, Peppa’s Adventures: The Album, getting a higher ranking than DONDA. He has been beefing on and off with Drake for years, recently inserting himself in the rap civil war with his remix of “Like That.”

However, one of his most random feuds to date is with streaming superstar Kai Cenat — but it seems like it is all over now.

Ye calls Kai a “pawn”

Last March, Cenat was sent free Yeezy merch, including some oversized sweatpants. Even though he did end up busting a move in them, there’s no way he could rock them outside the crib, considering the waistband fell to his ankles. Nevertheless, Cenat was obviously joking around and didn’t take the situation seriously.

Ye, however, did not find the situation funny in the slightest.

“Don't make no jokes about my clothes...When you ain't saying nothing about what Adidas is doing...When Vultures song came out you ain't play my verse...You controlled. Don't play with me," the rapper said.

Cenat responded by stating that “no jokes was being said when I first opened up that package. I showed love instantly. All I did was try on the sweats and it didn't fit. No jokes made. I immediately asked for a new pair.”

The damage was already done, and despite Cenat’s response, Ye accused him of being a “pawn” and listening to instructions from others (unclear who) to diss the merch.

Ye buries the hatchet

Fast-forward to January and Ye randomly posted a picture of a horse rocking a BULLY stable blanket in Cenat’s room.

The streamer was just as confused as everyone else, stating that he doesn’t “even know what this shit means…Now, listen, I know he’s got an album coming out. And I’m not gon’ lie. I think I’m officially a part of the rollout. I don’t know, though. Brilliant move by him. I think I’m a part of the rollout. He made me a part of the f****** rollout, dude.”

After making guesses on what the rapper was trying to tell Cenat (“He is trying to call me a dehydrated horse?”), he reached out to Ye’s team for clarification.

In response, Ye contacted Cenat and said, “Happy New Year, family.” Cenat officially declared the beef over on his stream, and it seems like everything is good for now.

If the album is ever released, maybe you’ll see Ye on Cenat’s stream as part of the rollout.

LiAngelo Ball Has One of the Biggest Songs of the Year (So Far)

LiAngelo Ball in front of a trippy background

About a decade ago, the Ball family first came onto the scene to shake up the basketball world. Everyone loves a good all-American family story, and the Balls fit the bill. LaVar Ball and his wife Tina raised three professional basketball players.

While Lonzo and LaMelo play in the NBA, LiAngelo had a brief contract with the Detroit Pistons and recently played international ball with the Mexican team Astros de Jalisco. However, LiAngelo wants to add “professional rapper” to his resume and goes by the stage name G3 Gelo.

“I might swerve, bend that corner, woahhh”

Gelo released his new single, “Tweaker,” on January 3. It quickly evoked a sense of nostalgia, with some fans joking that his dad, Lavar, wrote it back in 2000.

“Combing AfroBeat with a twanging Southern rap style in the vein of Bubba Sparxxx or Nelly, LiAngelo’s performance is not only unique and memorable, but it is unexpected for someone who seemed out of the public eye,” American Songwriter stated.

Gelo talks trash throughout the track but still provides a memorable hook (“I might swerve, bend that corner, woah”) that’s already been quoted by athletes, DoorDash, and news anchors.

“… I started from the bottom, just like you but I was harder, I came up a f***** soldier, n****, shout out to my father, Ah-ah, he made sure I'll make it farther, Ah-ah, my trust in God, Glocks and dollars,” Gelo spits.

“Tweaker” is also a family affair, with Lonzo (AKA ZO) securing a writing credit. On its opening day, it was streamed 1.32 million times on Spotify (the 12th most streamed rap song in the world on January 6) and has almost four million views on YouTube.

Gelo’s been amassing co-signs like infinity stones, from the Detroit Lions and Brooklyn Nets to Lil Yachty, and he just notched another milestone. He was announced as a performer for Rolling Loud California. Catch him swerving and bending on stage on March 15.

What did y’all think of “Tweaker?”
