This Is Why Ye Allegedly Delayed ‘Vultures 2’

Plus, Drake's still trying to strike a chord in the Kendrick Lamar beef.

Future’s week-long promo of “Mixtape Pluto” turned out to be a pump fake, and all he dropped was a single with Tee Grizzley, but Gunna delivered with his One of Wun album. In other news today:

Song Streams & Revenue

As reported by Hits Daily Double for April 26 to May 2.

It’s a new week and a new song revenue chart. As reported by Hits Daily Double, which tracks streaming revenue week over week, the above chart reflects the streaming period from April 26 to May 2.

Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” opens with $168K in revenue from 36M streams. Despite being released on a Tuesday with only 3 eligible days left in the streaming week, Kendrick’s “Euphoria” racked up $102K from almost 22M streams.

This Is Why ‘Vultures 2’ Was Allegedly Delayed

The extremely PR-friendly business venture of Yeezy Corn (email-censored version of this word with P) appears to be no more. All traces of promo and shameless wordplay about “coming soon” have been erased from Ye’s socials, and this may be what held up the release of Vultures Vol. 2

Last month, TMZ reported Ye’s plans to open a corn studio as the first initiative part of a broader adult entertainment division in the Yeezy empire. Pearls were clutched, old Ye tweets condemning that type of content were dredged up, and Ye’s chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, wrote a heavily worded letter opposing the idea.

A subreddit dedicated to Ye news and leaks (u/GoodAssSub) provided an update on the Yeezy corn venture and its connection to other projects. The uncertainty of the Yeezy adult division is allegedly what delayed Vultures 2

Having decided to table the idea, Ye is supposedly back on a healthier lifestyle and may change the album (again) to reflect his current state of mind. The subreddit’s source is a collaborator of Ye’s named Saint Leon—keep in mind that none of this information is verified.

It’s unclear what Leon’s work for Ye entails, but based on his IG—abundant with rapper and designer pics—he’s a disciple of Zack Bia. His most recent IG story said Travis Scott’s video teaser with Ye is for a new song and Cactus Jack promo.

If Ye does drop a song with Travis, hopefully, there’s more music coming soon.

Drake’s Still Trying to Strike a Chord in Kendrick Lamar Beef

It’s been a hard week for BBL Drizzy. There was a drive-by shooting and an attempted trespasser at his Toronto home, his OVO store in London was vandalized with “They Not Like Us,” and streaming of his catalog is down 5% while Kendrick’s is up 49%.

Is it possible for Drake to fire back and beat the odds not in his favor? Here’s everything you may have missed in the rap civil war this week.

Public Opinion of “The Heart Pt 6”

“The Heart Pt 6,” Drake’s response to “Not Like Us” continues to receive unfavorable reviews. Kai Cenat, who is a regular Drake glazer, admitted, “Kendrick is cooking, bro.” and might be victorious. Joe Budden said, “I’m over it, Drake sounds exhausted…I learned today I like Drake on offense and not defense.”

The topic of Drake trying to defend himself has raised eyebrows compared to Kendrick, who used each bar as a three-point play to make triple entendre disses against his opponent.

Comedian Seth Rogen voiced this sentiment during his headlining set at the Netflix Is A Joke festival in LA. Giving the TLDR of the rap civil war to the crowd, Seth called attention to the peculiarity of Drake’s songs becoming defensive.

“You don’t hear rap that’s like, ‘I am a good father … I should not be a registered sex offender.’ I would say as soon as you’re asserting in a rap song that you should not be a registered sex offender, you’ve lost the rap battle.”

“The Heart Pt 6” has reached 1M dislikes on YouTube, and simultaneously, “Not Like Us” has increased in streams every day since its release.

Drake Issues a Response

After a few days of silence, Drake took to his IG stories for more sneak diss type shit. He recorded a clip from Netflix’s A Man in Full, where the main character says, “I don’t mean this as a criticism. Maybe I do. But when you die, will people notice?”

“When I go, there are gonna be a lot of memories of me by a lot of people, many who hate me. Even so, a person needs to live with vigor. Otherwise, what’s the point?”

For context, the show’s premise is about a real estate mogul facing bankruptcy who defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his downfall—not hard to see the parallel to Drake’s current state of affairs.

The crypticness of a TV show clip isn’t as intimidating as the haunting beat Kendrick got The Alchemist to cook up on “Meet The Grahams,” but Drake’s message seems to be he’s unbothered by the discourse of him losing because he’s not done yet.

Drake’s #1 fan, Akademics, hinted at a new diss song on the horizon, posting on X, “Appreciate the silence. What comes after it is usually greatness.” Ironically, that statement could also apply to Kendrick emptying the clip with five diss songs after a year of silence.

The war doesn’t appear to be over, but if Drake does respond, it has to be more explosive than “Not Like Us” to change the narrative.

Who are you betting on the win the war?
